The Quebec Stakes, one of the best middle-distance races of the winter all-weather season, will be run on Boxing Day for the first time this year. It moves from its usual home on New Year's Eve to Saturday 26 December 2026.
The Listed race is run over a mile and a quarter on the Polytrack and is open to horses aged three and older. It usually attracts top-class horses and leading jockeys and it gives Lingfield's eight-race Boxing Day Flat card a real highlight. Gates open at 9.10 am, with the first race at 11.10 am.
Since it was first run in 2007, the Quebec Stakes has been won by some smart horses. Dubai Warrior is the only horse to have won it twice, in 2019 and 2021. John Gosden is the race's most successful trainer.
Last year's running went to the Gosden stable again. Nebras (7/2), ridden by Oisin Murphy for John and Thady Gosden, beat the 13/8 favourite by a short head. That favourite was Tyrrhenian Sea, who had won the race in 2023. Duke's Command was two and a quarter lengths further back in third, with Torito fourth. Nebras was the only three-year-old in the five-runner field.
Boxing Day at Lingfield will also have plenty for families to enjoy. There will be funfair rides, a roving magician and festive characters around the enclosures. Children aged 17 and under get in free when with an adult.
Advance General Admission is £25, and a Festive Family Ticket (two adults and up to four children) is £40. A buy-two-days-get-two-days-free offer covers all four of Lingfield's festive racedays.
