Lingfield Park is a diverse racecourse with both turf and all-weather track allowing for year-round racing to commence. The jumps season here at Lingfield Park runs from November through to February with a variety of thrilling fixtures.
When the racecourse first opened, in 1890, it was solely for jump racing until 1984, when the racecourse was granted permission to open as a flat racing venue. The All-Weather track was then opened in November 1989, allowing racing at Lingfield Park to continue all year round on the Polytrack surface.
The Surrey National is a Handicap Steeple Chase which is open to horses aged five and upwards and is run over 3 Miles 4 Furlongs and about 178 Yards. The race sees stamina play out as horses battle over 21 fences during the winter to take top spot. In 2026, Aworkinprogress ridden by James Davies and trained by N J Gifford, took the top prize.
