Following the BHA's announcement on 17th March 2020, all horse racing fixtures will be suspended from 18th March until at least the end of April. Read our News section for more information.
One of the first questions visitors ask when they have purchased their ticket, is ‘what do I wear to the races? Generally, our motto is you can dress up as much or as little as you want – it is your day to enjoy. However, there are some restrictions and advised dress codes depending on your ticket type and fixture.
Lingfield Racecourse dress code does not permit torn jeans, football shirts and shorts, beachwear or fancy dress at any time. Though smart casual dress can largely be accepted across the course, hospitality suites do adhere to a smarter dress code. Please review the details of your hospitality package to confirm any dress code expectations.
A lot of ladies like to dress for the occasion in dresses for the races, heels and hats, however, this is not a requirement. We would advise to dress for the elements and to always adhere to the rules of what clothing is permitted on site.
Gentlemen are advised that shirts should be worn at all times in all enclosures, though ties are not essential. Smart casual wear including smart jeans, chino or tailored shorts and trainers are allowed, but please adhere to the rules about clothing not permitted on site.
We do race throughout the whole year. Please ensure you dress accordingly, with plenty of warm clothing in the winter months. When the weather is very hot, tailored shorts are permitted.
