National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy
Lingfield Park is pleased to have chosen the Lingfield-based
children's charity the National Centre for Young People with
Epilepsy (NCYPE) as its first ever nominated charity of the year.
The partnership was formally celebrated during the race day at
Lingfield Park on Tuesday 16th September. The day's first race,
at 2.20pm, was named after the NCYPE and students from the
charity's Further Education College awarded a £25 cash
prize for the best turned out horse a trophy to the winning owner
in the Winner's Enclosure.
It is hoped that Lingfield Park can help NCYPE to raise several
thousand pounds throughout the year to help support the 200
children and young people who live and study on NCYPE's campus
in St Pier's Lane, Lingfield.
Around 60,000 under 18's across the UK have epilepsy, and many
of the NCYPE's students have severe forms of the condition
which, combined with other neurological disorders, can give them
speech, memory and mobility difficulties.
David Ford, Chief Executive of The NCYPE said: "I'm
delighted that Lingfield Park Racecourse has chosen the NCYPE as
their very first nominated charity of the year. This is a fantastic
opportunity for us to raise funds to boost our work caring for
young people with epilepsy."
Kevan Hodges, Managing Director from Lingfield Park Racecourse
added: "We know the money raised will make a real difference
to the children's lives - and it's great to be able to
support a charity so close to home which is doing such inspiring
work."
